Friday the 13th I was king for a day!
Unfortunately I don't have a picture of me in a cake covered crown but here is the prize that made me so! His name is Manu from the French cartoon Titeuf. (of which a neighbor, Tony, was so kind to enlighten me a little.) In France the traditional King's Cake is called galette des Rois. A Christmas related celebration that crowns the person who receives this trinket in their piece. [Traditionally the trinket would be a bean]
Basketball and Soccer this week was particularly fun. My only points come from 2 pointer, and 1 half court 3pt, and I'm not much better at Soccer, but I had the opportunity to meet some more people, and it's good to have some fun running around and getting blisters ect.
The weekend started out very exciting. Our neighbor Alex invited us to his friend, Jean's, party. (He looks like Tom Cruise!) Brenna and I met a lot of French people, one Scottish, one spoke English with an amazing British accent ect. there was quite a variety. One of the guests made a freshly squeezed orange juice cocktail, something Brenna and I decided to replicate the following day.
A trip to Cora with our friend Tony was followed by a 3 hour meal. We heated up our main dinner quickly. But then we hand squeezed oranges. Let me put it this way, there was so much pulp that 4 oranges made enough juice for 3 people, when the night before 2 oranges were needed for one person. I think we laughed the entire time especially when we went to drink it. "We should be eating this with a fork"-Tony. That course was followed by yummy cheese tasting and baguette, followed by an apple, followed by coffee.
[To add, my wonderful camera has a permanent black spot in the right corner, you may have noticed this signature mark in some of my pictures. Macro can avoid this, and the two pictures above are thanks to Brenna's camera. I'm trying my best to line the black up with other dark things in the scene from this point on.]
