Upon request from family, I've decided to follow through with creating a blog site in order to keep record and share my travels this next semester; Spring 2012. My flight leaves Wednesday the 4th (January) 8pm, a straight flight arriving 10:30 in Paris.
This will be my second semester as a student of Georgia Tech currently majoring in chemical engineering; minoring in Spanish. My first semester concluded well with a 3.58GPA, bringing me up to 33 credits currently, thus now I am a sophomore. Apart from scholarly activities, I joined the Wesley Foundation; who accepted me like a family, I tried my hand at beach volley ball intramurals, and worked for the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid; another family of mine. Among the new things I learned at college my favorite of all was ballroom dancing, and though it's certainly still a work in progress, I met some of the most interesting people through that. I must add my college experience started with a 2 week backpacking trip in Alaska, which was simply incredible, and a great foreshadowing of the brilliant experiences I have yet to come.
I have been learning French (trying) over these past two weeks, but I imagine I'll learn a lot more during the 5 months I am over there. I anticipate learning so much about the different cultures and geography as I travel around France and various other places in Europe; Rome/Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Germany, London/England. I plan to start running a lot as a means of exploring the area around Metz, where the college branch, GTL is located, and hiking mountains elsewhere. I am hoping to take ballroom dance classes while I'm in France for the semester; the means of doing so will determine whether or not I will.
Woohoo!!! I started one too, http://www.everlater.com/brennad/studyabroad . I fly out tomorrow morning so I'll see you soon! Have a good flight!!
