I used last night to repack and rejuvenate. I shared a room with several other people who were actually from Czechoslovakia. That was a first for me! People have been very helpful –and if I remember, I will have my Mom take a picture of me holding all the luggage to provide a visual of how ridiculous I look trying to carry it all up the stairs at once! On one hand, I should be concerned that people might offer to carry my bag with ill intentions. On the other hand, they won’t be running too far with it!!
I was looking forward to breakfast this morning, even though it was basic toast but the oatmeal was good, and we got a bar too, which I could happily save for later. I timed my money pretty well so I didn’t have to take out more pounds, and still had the right change for a locker to store all my luggage. Unfortunately it was raining to start with, and I was slightly debating just spending the day at the airport. One thing I’ve learned, if I’ve learned anything at all; simply don’t pass up opportunities. If the opportunity cost is not to my disadvantage, I should do it.
Weather was warm enough that a slight mist only kept me from getting to warm. Mostly, I’ll let pictures speak for themselves. The atmosphere of London: friendly, prosperous in an old fashioned way, elegantly modernized, not half as dirty as it used to be in Dicken’s books.
My time was too short that’s for sure. But I got a pretty good feel for at least one part of it in 2 hours. It took me a little less than an hour to venture back, and an hour and a half to get to the airport. I got some concerned looks, she’s crazy to be travelin’ on the tube with all that. “I do this for fun.” I told one older couple. Great thing about English: sarcasm is easily picked up on. But it was not too awful. I could physically carry it all in times of boarding and stairs, therefore I did. Very short term boot camp. The departure board reads a 2 hour delay to New York for the 14:50 flight. I hope it is not a pattern with my 16:00 one, and whatever is going on is cleared up.
